Cambodian girl died of Influenza virua


According to statement of Ministry of Health, Cambodian girl, aged 11, died of avian influenza virus H5N1 on March 31, 2011. She was living in Kampong Cham province's Steung Trang district.

She felt sick and also treated by local villagers but she was not better and then she was sent to hospital in Siem Reap province. It is the 14th person infected with H5N1 virus in the Kingdom of Cambodia. and it is the tenth to die from complication of the disease.

Health Minister Mam Bunheng said that H5N1 virus is still threatening Cambodian people's health throughout the country. He added that identification of potential patient is the fastest way of ensuring they can have correct treatment.

He added that the ministry also pushes communities to be on the look-cut for respiratory infection with history of contact with the dead or sick poultry to promptly seek medical attention at the nearest health centers.
