Khmer Traditional Wedding Ceremony

In all cultures, weddings are important and a milestone in the lives of two people, but in Khmer culture, it is even more of a celebration, and it is prolonged ritual that has been a tradition since the Khmer culture the beginning, more than a thousand years. The wedding ceremony lasts three days or more in some cases.

The first two days consist of a ritual ceremony at the home of the bride's family. He realizes this and that. The community offers dishes of fresh fruit in the morning and throughout the day. The music in this period of Khmer Kar Phleng marriage or as they call it, plays in the background beautiful.

When I say "play well in the background," I do not want the tapes or the radio. For weddings, seven people present for the entire seven is to make beautiful music and traditional instruments. Bridal runs the oldest and most talented musicians for the seriousness and importance of marriage.

The wedding starts late, around 6 or 7 on the third day. All in society and the best of Cambodian cuisine is served in the course of ten menu. All women at their best, dressed in silk gowns, makeup and hair done up nicely. The smell of the room is fantastic. It is full of pure happiness. Everything is full of smiles, dancing, and full of courtesy. The music is fantastic and adds to it all, and some say it fuels the Khmer culture and happiness.

There are many different rituals take place before the ceremony, and there is a specific song for Kar Phleng each. Rituals include: the leader of the spouse at home wife, asking him to break the barrier to enter the house, and the beginning of the ceremony. Before the ceremony, many traditions, such as cutting hair, cutting betel flowers into pieces and scatter them over the head of the couple, drawing a sword, the binding thread around the wrist, the prostration of the god Sun, entered the wedding hall, sweeping the carpet wedding and reception of parents and relatives.

The wedding music plays very unpleasant Khmer at a level that most people do not enjoy, but the Khmer people that love and enjoy. It is a way to show their joy and celebrate the start of his new life with the world. Music for them is entirely peaceful and magical, but others who are not accustomed to this, may seem a bit uncomfortable due to the sharp sounds of traditional instruments.

While the music may seem chaotic, people are not. The Khmer people are extremely friendly and a wedding is a very dark, emotional event. Wedding in Khmer is the most about the bride and groom's life together, is your life, how they were raised to reflect on the good deeds of their parents, and of course, the journey, to be together.

Phleng Kar was a wedding day very early conclusion of the ceremony (thread-tying and a blessing), early the next day.
